The yellow Aluula material is considered light and extremely stiff - no wonder it is now used by many manufacturers. Having already shown you some of these models, such as the Vayu Aura Xthe RRD Gold Wing or the Duotone Unit E/Lab, manufacturer Naish now also has such a wing in its programme - the ADX NVision.
On land
The Standard model ADX from Naish We already presented the new ADX NVision in a test some time ago. The new ADX NVision is basically the same wing, but with a different construction - made from Aluula material. The ADX NVision is available in sizes 3.0/3.5/4.0/4.5/5.0/5.5/6.0 and with 7.0 square metres, but depending on the size, you will have to fork out between 1699 and 2499 euros for this elegant design. Naish uses SUP valves for the valve system and thanks to a one-pump system, you don't have to change the plugs when aerating. The Wing also has a valve on the strut for quick deflation. The small windows made of barred X-Ply material only allow a very limited view to leeward. The loop on the front tube is well done, it is nice and stiff, can be gripped wonderfully and allows direct steering impulses. Keyword "gripping": The thin carbon grips are very comfortable to grip. The positioning is ideal and thanks to the thin handle diameter and slightly oval shape, the grip is particularly effortless. Extensive reinforcements on wingtips or the front tube have been omitted for reasons of weight optimisation. Apparently with success, because the Naish ADX NVision weighs just 2.33 kilos in the 5.0 test size - that's around half a kilo less than the standard ADX model.
On the water
Apart from the fact that the Naish ADX NVison is a little more difficult to turn over when lying in the water, it feels wonderfully light and neutral in the hand when first launched. Like its stablemate ADX, it is not one of the absolute powerhouses on the market with its rather flat profile. Due to the even stiffer profile resulting from the Aluula material, the wing sometimes feels a little lifeless at the lower wind limit. In general, it helps in light to medium winds to reduce the inflation pressure towards the lower end of the recommended range (7 Psi), then the ADX NVision is noticeably more elastic and can be pumped more efficiently. However, if you pump actively, you can get a reasonable performance from the wing at the lower wind limit.
In a straight line, the NVison lies in the hand with pleasingly low holding forces, achieves a very good top speed and the positioning of the handles proves to be ideal. Overall, the ADX NVision appears rather agile and playful in the hand, but it is not a wing with maximum flight stability. When powered up, the wing offers a high speed potential; due to its tight cloth tension and stiff material, absolutely nothing warps here, even in strong gusts.
In manoeuvres, the Aluula-Wing is undoubtedly one of the best currently available on the market. Folding tip-to-tip in tack is a pleasure, and it floats neutrally in all manoeuvres with the wind. It also has a pleasingly low tendency to let the trailing edge sink towards the water when you sail towards it. You benefit from this in manoeuvres downwind as well as when winching down the wave. The ADX NVision scores across the board in the swell: it floats neutrally and without any disturbing life of its own, can be steered with pinpoint accuracy thanks to the stiff front handle and fully utilises the advantages of its low weight. This also applies to freestyle tricks - here the Wing rotates through all the popular moves in fast motion. Because it offers a lot of basic speed and unbeatable control when powered up, you also have the best conditions for high jumps with plenty of airtime.
Naish ADX NVision - the conclusion
The ADX NVision from Naish is one of the absolute top wings on the market in terms of handling, neutrality and control. If you are looking for a wing with maximum power and stability for freeriding or light wind, you should also keep an eye on the Naish Matador Wing. Compared to the standard construction of the ADX, the ADX NVision has, in our opinion, comparable light wind power, but even better handling, more neutrality in the swell and even better agility for radical freestyle tricks. The wind range has also been extended slightly in the direction of strong winds. Whether this is worth the extra price of around 900 euros is up to you to decide, as the normal ADX is also an absolutely successful wing.
