The idea of building a wetsuit with integrated protectors is not entirely new. In contrast to other models such as the Forward WIP MK2 (HERE there's a test), the ProLimit Shield is not reinforced in the upper body area, but only where impact protection waistcoats cannot protect. This mainly affects the legs, which are always at risk of coming into contact with the sharp foil. The knee areas have thicker padding and the shin area is reinforced with Kevlar, which should provide effective protection against cuts and sharp objects. Because many foil beginners often have to crawl onto the board, the forearms have also been protected against abrasion on the board. The manufacturer ProLimit has also thought about transporting the foil board on land - thick padding has been integrated in the shoulder area so that, for example, the wingboard with the foil mounted can be placed more comfortably on the shoulder when being carried.
As mentioned, the hull area is not padded and the ProLimit Shield Neo should be worn for foiling in conjunction with an impact protection waistcoat. However, the neo does not look so oversized away from foiling and can also be used for other water activities. The Shield is now available in stores in thicknesses 6/4 and 5/3 for 399 to 429 euros. Further information is available HERE on the manufacturer's website.
