"After we received two requests for support a few weeks before the start of the World Cup in Gran Canaria, both from Ricardo Campello and from organiser Björn Dunkerbeck, we initially had to decline due to the current difficult budget situation in the entire water sports industry," reads a statement from the Pryde Group. Nevertheless, pencils were sharpened to free up the budget. Both the World Cup in Pozo and Ricardo Campello are important factors for the perception of windsurfing.
NeilPryde should therefore be very pleased with the outcome of the wave riding: With Sarah-Quita Offringa and Marino Gil Gherardi, two Pryde riders are at the top of the podium. Although Ricardo Campello fell short of his own expectations with seventh place, he caused quite a stir with his prominent sponsor Martin Garrix - and his decision to use Pryde sails is the best advertisement for the company for the new models with the bullseye.
Over the next few days, the slalom X riders will also take to the water. Sarah-Quita Offringa, Nico Prien and Maciek Rutkowski are also in the spotlight here.
"For us, as NeilPryde and JP-Australia, windsurfing is not just a sport; it is our origin, our passion and our everlasting commitment. We invest heavily in the development of windsurfing and products because it's what we love. So we couldn't help but help one of the most radical and dedicated windsurfers make his event comeback and contribute to the successful realisation of the World Cup!"
