The Wingfoil World Cup Fuerte starts today. The best foilers will once again compete for world championship points in freestyle and slalom.

Just a few days ago, the Big Air World Cup Pozo/Gran Canaria The first edition of the Wingfoil World Cup ended with a spectacle, and now the best wingfoilers will face each other again on the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura - albeit in different disciplines. At the top spot on Fuerteventura, points will once again be at stake in the freestyle and free-fly slalom disciplines. The World Cup Fuerte is the penultimate clash in these disciplines before the final decision is made in Brazil at the end of November. This is not the only reason why all the top stars will be present at this Canary Islands stop. The most exciting question will be whether the two teenagers Chris MacDonald (18) and Nia Suardiaz (17) can continue their winning streaks. MacDonald currently leads the freestyle rankings ahead of four Frenchmen - Axel Gerard, Bastien Escofet, Noé Cuyala and Malo Guénolé can all still get involved in the title fight. Italy's Francesco Cappuzzo is currently in the lead in the slalom, but defending this position against challengers Julien Rattotti and Riccardo Zorzi is likely to be a tough task.

Nia Suardiaz has been foiling in a league of her own in the women's event for some time now and it's currently hard to imagine that anything will change in Fuerteventura. As soon as the action starts, the livestream will be back here on the website - and of course all the results and videos.

To get you in the mood, here are some highlights from the previous year:
