With the FoilFix mounting set for foils, manufacturer Forward-WIP aims to solve two typical problems with foil mounting. Firstly, it should make it possible to fix the painstakingly worked out ideal position of the foil for the next session. Secondly, it should also speed up the foil assembly itself, especially if you are using a foil mast where the screws cannot be inserted into the side of the mounting plate. The system is available with either M6 or M8 screws for 39.99 euros from well-stocked surf shops.

Practical test of the FoilFix mounting set for foils
We tried out the FoilFix mounting system for several days. Fixing the stud bolts for the first time worked without any problems, and the plastic spacers supplied in different thicknesses can be used to ensure that the screw length fits. Once the position is fixed, the foil mast is attached to the stud bolts and fixed in place using the round twist locks. To have better leverage, you can use the plastic tool supplied and tighten the screws much more firmly this way. You should do this, as the nuts will loosen over time if you only fix them with your bare fingers. In our test, the FoilFix system worked well in combination with foil masts, where the nuts lay flat on the mounting plate. If you screw the nuts over the recesses for the nuts on some foil masts, the nuts sometimes shook loose. We recommend checking the tightness of the nuts from time to time during the first sessions!
The screwed-on nuts only slightly increase the board's resistance during the start-up phase; once removed, this small disadvantage disappears into thin air anyway. After surfing, the nuts can be loosened quickly and the foil mast simply pulled off. The studs remember the position until the next time - in this respect, the system fulfils its purpose as intended.
Foil Fix mounting set - the conclusion:
The idea behind the FoilFix system is ingenious. It significantly speeds up the assembly of certain foil masts and permanently fixes the favourite position of the foil. The system can also be used regardless of the hole spacing of the respective foil - an advantage over systems such as the Track Nut Train from Cabrinha.
Here the assembly is explained again by video:
