When testing the Cabrinha Vision Wings, we discovered a lot of light, but also some shade. You can find out exactly where the strengths and weaknesses lie in the test report.

The Cabrinha Vision Wing has been significantly revised compared to the previous model: Less "V", an optimised panel layout and adjustments to the front handle and window are the most important points here. The Vision is available in sizes from 2.0 to 8.0 square metres - we tested the 5.0 square metre size. It is designed as a freeride, freestyle and light wind wing.

On land

Compared to other wings, the front tube on the Vision is somewhat thinner. The Vision is very elongated, with a wingspan of 344 centimetres. To prevent the wing from dragging with the wingtips during pumping and manoeuvres, the wingtips are significantly bent. To give the Vision enough tension, it is inflated to a full ten psi. This is done using a standard valve, and a one-pump system ensures that there is no need to change the plugs when inflating. Cabrinha has dispensed with a clamp with which the two air chambers can be separated. An additional outlet valve has been installed on the strut. The fabric tension of the Wing is tight at the front, while the rear edge is cut quite loosely. At a measured 3.05 kilos, the Vision Wing is not particularly light on the scales, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything - more on that later. The equipment turns out to be impeccable, particularly striking are the large windows, which - in contrast to other wings on the market - actually open up a wide viewing corridor.

For the grip system, Cabrinha relies on two fixed grips which, however, offer some flexibility at the ends and are therefore forgiving of unintentional contact with the board. On request, spacers can be purchased, small blocks that allow the grips to protrude further from the strut, which can make it easier to change grip. The front handle on the leading edge is fixed and therefore offers above-average direct contact with the wing. We also present the Cabrinha Vision Wing in a short product clip on our YouTube channel. On the water

The Cabrinha Vision is quite elastic, it inflates well when pumped and therefore offers good light wind power, which enables early take-off. In contrast to other wings, where the recommended inflation pressure can be undercut by 1 to 1.5 psi, the Vision should always be inflated to the recommended ten psi, as otherwise the wing is almost a little soft. When foiling, the Vision is agile in the hand, it reacts immediately to steering commands and can be steered with pleasingly little effort. On the other hand, it is not one of the most stable wings in flight, as it virtually finds its own flying position and maintains it during sporty freeriding.

Even if you wouldn't have guessed it from the measured weight, the Cabrinha Vision is absolutely light in the hand, it rotates quickly and is equally fun for foil manoeuvres and freestyle tricks. We also liked the wing when drifting, where it stabilises itself and flies neutrally and without disturbing life of its own when riding swells. Because the wing has a short centre strut and only a little weight in the trailing edge area, it hardly sinks even when riding waves downwind. The stiff front handle is also very useful when drifting, as it allows you to transfer steering impulses directly to the wing. In our opinion, the only shortcoming is control in strong gusts: Here, the loosely cut trailing edge starts to flutter noticeably, and the entire base frame of the wing no longer seems quite as stiff as we know it from other wings on the market.

Cabrinha Vision - the conclusion

The Cabrinha Vision scores particularly well in light to medium winds as a powerful and light wing for freeriding, tricks and riding swell waves. The wing therefore lives up to its all-round claim. In the hands of heavier surfers (>85 kilos) and as a wing for stronger gusts, it feels a little spongy.
