The STX brand has proven itself in the SUP segment with very well-equipped boards at moderate prices. This is also reflected in the cruiser we tested. The board feels stiff underfoot, paddles sportily and surfs quickly and with reduced resistance thanks to the long trailing edge, even in stronger winds. With its dimensions of 11 feet long and only 32 inches wide, it is one of the sportier, more agile boards with good touring suitability for paddlers and a sporty feel for windsurfing beginners.
Two centre fins inhibit lateral drift well, which is a noticeable help when going upwind, especially for wing surfers. The recognisable but not exaggerated nose runs freely over choppy waves when paddling or windsurfing. The board turns well, although not excessively, which is also a concession to the two fins in the centre. The turning characteristics benefit from the base plate being positioned further back, which compensates somewhat for the strongly leading centre fins, even if the STX - also due to its long, narrow dimensions - is no turning miracle.
Conclusion on the STX Cruiser Crossover
A sporty-looking board in this group for intermediates and even touring paddlers.
