Starboard sets the bar high in the WindSUP class with its lavish full equipment: the construction with welded seams on the edges is particularly high-quality for SUPs. There are also numerous windsurfing features. Such as the longest tear-off edge, well-placed, removable loops, stiff, neatly profiled fins in particularly solid, removable boxes. All this comes at a price, but in return Starboard delivers what is probably the best windsurf SUP board in this class. The dimensions are even suitable for longer SUP tours. However, with its 31 mm width, the board is not absolutely suitable for beginners - at least for heavier paddlers.
With a sail or paddle, the board accelerates well, and although the clearly upturned bow costs a few centimetres when paddling in flat water, it remains free enough above the waves when windsurfing, even with a strong pull in the sail and good speed. The particularly long trailing edge reduces the sail pull and makes the board faster than all boards without this feature. You can even feel the advantage on smaller waves when paddling downwind on the lake.
Conclusion on the Starboard iGO Deluxe
