The name says it all - the Starboard harmonises perfectly with a wing as a drive. The strap positions cannot be used for windsurfing, but with the wing in your hand they are in exactly the right position. The two large, well-profiled and also stiff centre fins provide the necessary lateral support for wing surfing, and even with the windsurf sail, the board pulls height like no other.
With more pressure in the windsurf sail, the flat bow often pushes against one or the other choppy wave, the two large centre fins require wide radii when jibing, a lot of space to leeward and require advanced sailing technique. The planing feeling when the wind picks up is very good and almost sporty thanks to the sharp edges. These edges probably also provide the guidance that ensures better directional stability when paddling than is usual for this board length. It is also more suitable for paddling for lighter or more experienced paddlers due to the wobbly water position.
Conclusion on the Starboard Wing 4in1 Deluxe
For paddling, the board is well suited for lighter, smaller people, but its strengths clearly lie in wing surfing. For windsurfers, the board with a single fin in the centre is the better choice.
