In the LE design with a robust edge, the board is heavier than the wider Super Light Edition board (insert link), but also slightly stiffer. The dimensions are almost the same as those of an ideal all-round SUP and with the wide tail, it is even more stable in the water than is usual for a 32-inch board. This makes it very suitable as a family SUP for the beach, but also for shorter tours.
It is sufficiently stable for most windsurfing beginners. With the balanced trim of fin and mast foot position, it offers a very good compromise between directional stability, sufficient guidance when going upwind in light winds (also due to the slightly larger centre fin) and yet good turning characteristics: both when jibing and tacking. Only the short pad in front of the base plate could cause one or two slips on the smooth deck if the side change in the tack is not optimal. The pad, which is otherwise pulled up to the tail, offers plenty of room for playing with the sail or paddle and the wide tail provides the necessary stability.
Conclusion on the JP-Australia WindSUPAir LE
