If you are not ahead before the first buoy with the Jag, you have every opportunity to make up metres in the following gybe at the latest. The Jag loves jibes - in all radii. With moderate pressure, the board can be turned really tightly, steered through medium radii at high speed or placed on the rail with the sail down. As a result, you always come out of the turn with a lot of control over the board and very good speed. The board has the potential to show the tail to one or two other surfers on the straight - especially in good winds.
Noble fin makes the board light on its feet
Both strap positions are sporty and allow the board to fly freely, the outside position is even double bolted. The Jag 110 features striking, two-stage cut-outs at the tail. The volume is distributed quite evenly over the length, the rails in the tail are "boxy". A fin is not included, Duotone recommends either a Duotone fin with comfortable riding characteristics or the slightly more demanding, but very fast (tested by us) 37 mm carbon fin from Finish. This classy fin has no resistance at all times and conveys a particularly energy-saving, light feeling, while the hull absorbs light impacts on the choppy wave with ease.
This gives the Jag a very pleasant mix of comfort, speed and manoeuvres. The light-footed fin requires a little more thrust from the sail to really get up to speed. It also offers a little less back pressure than other boards in this group on closehauled courses in light winds. Nevertheless, the Jag starts planing very early on its 2.35 metre length smoothly and without any technical finesse, then only doesn't gain quite as much speed as a Rocket Plus in the first few metres and can easily get back into the top group in strong winds. Subjectively, the board always feels sporty and fast - but controllable and still comfortable for this class. So at the end of the test, the board turns out to be one of our favourites because it is equally fun for heating and jibing and combines very good performance with easy access to the freerace class.
Duotone Jag - the conclusion
A light-footed board with particularly fluid and balanced jibing qualities. It planes very well and is also in the top group in terms of top speed.
