Emerging spots with a standing area, smooth water and corresponding infrastructure are ideal places to practise. As long-distance destinations are often not accessible at the moment, we have put together a list of the top 10 best upwind and flat water spots on the Baltic Sea coast for you.

Every windsurfing novice knows this: annoying choppy waves that make it difficult to get on the board. Every time you go down, you struggle to get back on the board, the only constant being the constant drifting downwind. But it could all be so easy! If you choose the right upwind spots to practise, you will learn in fast motion.

Areas with a standing area are ideal - also because hardly any waves can form in shallow water, even in strong winds. After a fall, you can hop back on the board in a matter of seconds and invest your valuable energy in new manoeuvres rather than catching up with the sail. And, of course, the safety aspect is also important - if you drift off or fail to cross, you simply walk back to the starting point with your equipment in tow.

The good news is that the Baltic Sea coast is full of perfect up-and-coming spots. The spots on the following hit list combine all the important aspects: Large standing area, flat water, high wind safety and appropriate infrastructure such as surf schools at the spot - after all, not everyone has their own equipment.

We show the ten best areas with shallow water and good climbing conditions in the picture gallery above!

You can find even more Baltic Sea spots for windsurfing, as well as for wingsurfing and SUPing in our area!
