The natural beauty of the lower Reuss to the west of Zurich and the easy white water make the river a rewarding destination for stand-up paddlers who are looking for peace and quiet in nature and want to learn white water techniques without stress. The river meanders in large loops through dense forests and past lush green banks, almost always with a good current. The Reuss is a glacial river and can be paddled from spring to autumn. The most beautiful section for stand-up paddlers is between Bremgarten and Gebenstorf. The paddling distance is 24 kilometres (WW I-II). The entry point is north of Bremgarten (Bremgartener Unterstadt) at the bridge in front of the old town wall. After about 1.5 kilometres, the Reuss is divided by an island. In the left arm of the river, a surfing wave breaks across the river. Choose the right arm. The exit is in front of a weir in Gebenstorf.
