The Norden brand stands for SUP hardboards with North German roots. Maker Andy Wirtz emphasises durable shapes and only makes changes when they make sense. In the interview you will learn much more about the brand background and its philosophy. But here we want to present the new models. The test will follow as soon as the boards are available to the editorial team.
Norden SUP Glider now also optimised for downwind
The Glider v3 12'4, which covers the open ocean touring and surf segment at Norden, has been revised in the rocker line and the rail curve to improve the downwind and surfing characteristics. The V3 version offers a significant improvement for those who are travelling more in choppy water. You can find the test of the V2 version here.
Norden SUP Touring with 20 litres of additional volume
The Touring v3 12'6which also works wonderfully in open waters, is nevertheless aimed more at the touring paddling and flat water segment. Norden has given the board 20 litres more volume and upgraded the board from 260l to 280l to improve its suitability for heavier riders and also to allow more luggage to be carried for longer tours.
Norden SUP: Glider and Touring now also in lightweight design
The biggest highlight of both variants, however, is the "Carbon Ultra Light"-construction method that Norden has been using for raceboards for many years. During the Glider v3 While the classic wood sandwich construction weighs 12.1 kg, the carbon version weighs just nine kilos. The situation is similar with the Touring v3The board weighs 14.2 kilos in wood sandwich and only 10.7 kilos in carbon. This massive difference in weight presumably not only significantly improves performance on the water, but also makes it easier to carry to the water's edge.
While the wood-sandwich construction of the two boards costs €1999, the carbon versions cost €2499. A little tip: Norden Surfboards is currently clearing its stock and many SUP boards and accessories are reduced by up to 40 per cent.
