On land:
The Move is designed as a 5-batten sail across all sizes. Ideally, the sail should be rigged on a 400 mast. Thanks to the vario top, a 430 mast could also be used here - however, our recommendation is clearly in favour of the 400, as the sail is already quite tightly tuned even with this mast length and would be even harder on the 430. Printed trim points help you to set the right luff trim. surf tip: In winds at the lower planing limit, you can also go a little below the manufacturer's recommendation and rig the Move with a little less visible loose leech. The materials used look absolutely high quality, comparatively thick materials are used and the protector is also successful because it is long and easy to fold up. The Move also offers the option of noticeably changing the characteristics via two clew eyelets. As always, the sail offers a little more planing power and drive on the wave when rigged at the top, while the leech has better twist at the bottom, which is good for control in strong winds.
On the water:
The RRD Move gets by with fairly little outhaul tension, especially in light winds, so that the profile of the sail is not set too flat. The tightly tuned profile needs a little more wind to load up properly, but once it is up to speed it stabilises perfectly and is then very stable. Overall, the Move has a very "freeride" feel, which means that disturbing load changes are not an issue and even with a less pronounced sail feel, you can easily find the right angle of attack for the wind and concentrate fully on the essentials. The RRD model also shows no weaknesses in manoeuvres - even if it is not quite as playful and light in the hand, the batten rotation and suitability for jibes, classic moves or even spin loops are still at a very good level. Another positive aspect is that annoying trim adjustments are kept to a minimum in gusty winds and the wind range is convincing.
RRD Move - the conclusion
The RRD Move is fast, controllable and stable, making it ideal for freeride boards or multifin boards. The Move is also ideal for trips into moderate surf.
