The goal was clear from the outset: to build a board that takes off as early as possible and cushions unwanted touchdowns as smoothly as possible. The result is the new Go FlyA model designed for both windfoil beginners and experienced foilers. In order to achieve these ambitious goals, the board is slightly longer than other board models and, above all, has an above-average flat area in the underwater hull. This should enable the board to reach the required take-off speed effortlessly and without pushing water in front of it. The bow is visibly raised and the underwater hull is designed with a large "V" - both shape features are intended to guarantee a smooth entry in the event of unwanted touchdowns.
The Starboard Go Fly will be available in three sizes: First there is the Wildcard version with 129 litres (dimensions: 210 x 75 centimetres) and two larger versions with 136 litres (229 x 75 centimetres) and 162 litres (229 x 85 centimetres). According to the manufacturer, the board can be combined with buoyant and manoeuvrable low-aspect foils such as the Starboard Supercruiser, but also with sportier wings. When motorised accordingly, it should be possible to fly round trips in six to seven knots of basic wind.
Sounds exciting? We think so too - which is why we have already ordered a test board to see whether the concept lives up to its promise. A detailed test will be available here on the website. Further information is available HERE on the manufacturer's website.
