The new Goya Custom 3 has little to do with its predecessor. The outline has been modified, the fin boxes have been moved forwards and the straps moved back - the result should be better turning. The Custom 3 also doesn't have to fight its way over a planing threshold first, but instead glides off passably, on the straight the board sits quite firmly in the water and runs like on rails and with a lot of control even in rough conditions.
The shape adjustments have a big impact when riding waves: While the previous model (test in surf 11-12 2020) was pretty well-behaved on the wave, the new Custom 3 shows significantly more bite. The control is also outstanding here, as the rails cut through the water like a hot knife through butter. Fortunately, the radii are now noticeably more variable, allowing the Goya to be steered into tight, vertical turns with less effort. At the same time, the board picks up speed well up to the lip of the wave: ideal conditions for crashing cutbacks or wave moves of all kinds.
surf conclusion: The new Custom 3 can finally convince ambitious wave riders again and scores with the best control and top turning characteristics for a large target group and with a range of use from the Ijsselmeer to Hookipa.
