Manufacturer ION now also offers special models to the growing number of people who want to wingsurf with a harness. You can choose between the hard shell harness Rogue and the soft model Rave. Similar to the ProLimit Drift tested by us ( HERE there's a test), ION also relies on a cut that lies somewhere between a standard windsurf or kite harness and a minimalist hip belt.
The hook system of the harnesses is said to be special: As is usual with wing harnesses, the hook can move sideways so that you can also surf in switch stance when hooked in. However, as soon as you unhook, an integrated elastic band pulls the plastic hook back into a central position.
The main difference between the two ION models is the design of the outer shell. With the Rogue, ION relies on a solid shell. This is intended to relieve the spine by distributing the forces that occur more evenly. The Rave, on the other hand, has a much softer design and should therefore offer more freedom of movement and flexibility.
Both harnesses are available from specialist retailers in two colours and two sizes (S-M & L-XL). The Rave costs 189.99 euros (>> available here ), the Rogue hard shell harness is slightly more expensive at 219.99 euros (>> available here ).
