Surf recommendation: If you have a slightly higher level of riding ability and do without the last bit of power and ride camberless sails, the 3S will reward you with great turning characteristics that also allow you to carve 360s and ride small waves in the Baltic Sea. The loop position further inboard also suits this much better than the wide flounders in the group and with a slightly smaller fin, even a small 5.3 mm sail fits the characteristics of the board well.

On land: Compared to the Rocket, the 3S has a much rounder design with a narrower nose and tail section. The round edges, the loops further inboard and the shorter and more curved fin also emphasise the manoeuvre orientation of the board. A pronounced V in the underwater hull is designed to ensure that the 3S enters choppy waves smoothly.

On the water:The 3S holds the manoeuvre flag high in a more performance-oriented group and if you expect sleek jibes and tight turning from a 115-litre board, you've come to the right place. There's no question that the 3S can't quite keep up with the best of the group in terms of planing performance and speed potential, partly because the straps are much further in and you can't let the board fly quite as freely over the fin. Nevertheless, the Tabou is a lot of fun on the straights and runs very smoothly and easy to control, especially in strong winds and choppy water. In manoeuvres, you also turn tightly around the corner with little foot pressure - the narrow tail makes this possible - so it's not surprising that the board requires a little more sensitivity and riding skill in the jibe.
