Quatro Power on land:
Compared to the other Quatro models, shaper Keith Teboul has given the Power a flatter bottom curve to maximise speed and planing potential. A double concave V should also ensure a high level of riding comfort. The Power 86 we tested (surf measurement 6.54 kilos) comes with 10 mm side fins and a 19 mm centre fin, which sits in a power box. The straps and pads are comfortable, but are all simply screwed on.
Quatro Power onthe water:
The Quatro Power 86 glides effortlessly even with a passive riding style (without pumping) and converts the sail pull into speed without delay. In a straight line, the board combines good planing power with a high level of comfort - the Power is dampened in chop and is therefore pleasantly easy to ride. The board also has particular strengths on the edge: regardless of whether you are carving through a power jibe, a carving 360 or a bottom turn, the board always provides a lot of control and grip on the rail. If you reduce the speed a little and consciously turn over the back foot, you can also elicit tight hooks from the board, which are great for dissecting small surf waves. However, if you carve over the front foot at speed in larger and powerful waves, you will quickly realise that the radii of this model are somewhat limited.
The Power is not a pure wave board, but has a very wide range of applications."Marius Gugg, surf tester
Surf summary of the Quatro Power
The Power 86 impresses as a planing and highly controllable board for anyone looking for a one-board solution for high-wind use on flat water, for manoeuvres, jumps and moderate waves. However, if you want to focus more on the wave, the Cube model offers noticeably more variable radii and more potential for radical turns, slides and wave moves.
