The ProLimit Drift is another harness model for wingsurfing use. Read the test to find out whether it works.

Because conventional windsurfing and kitesurfing harnesses do not ideally fulfil the requirements of wingsurfing, more and more brands are launching their own wingsurfing models on the market. Now ProLimit is following suit with the Drift model.

The Drift costs 129 euros and its dimensions lie somewhere between a high-cut windsurf harness and a minimalist hip belt. It offers a decent amount of padding and is attached to the body at the front using Velcro. Locking the hook is kept as simple as possible - insert the strap, close it and you're done. However, because the buckle is positioned very far to the side, the comfort when fastening the harness is not quite ideal. We recommend twisting the harness slightly forwards when fastening the harness so that the buckle can be operated comfortably in front of the body.

The harness offers a good mix of freedom of movement and comfort

Also important: The end of the strap should be slid under the neoprene cover, otherwise you could accidentally open the snap fastener if you get caught on it during a manoeuvre - then there is a risk of losing the hook on the water!

The ProLimit Drift was absolutely convincing in the practical test. As expected, the wearing comfort is not comparable with higher-cut windsurfing or kitesurfing harnesses, but the Drift still offers enough comfort to be able to ride longer strokes hooked in and take the strain off your arms. You can stay hooked in even when your feet are twisted, as the hook can move sideways on the harness - this is also the biggest advantage of special wingsurf harnesses like the Drift. Moving the hook sideways is also a big advantage when getting onto the board, as you don't have to maltreat the board with the hook.

ProLimit Drift harness - the conclusion:

Apart from the not fully developed fastening system, the ProLimit Drift harness is a good tip for anyone who doesn't want to ride a windsurf or kite harness due to the fixed hook position, but for whom the completely minimalist hip straps are too uncomfortable. If you don't ride a defi wing race with long strokes, you get a minimum of comfort and all the features you need for wings.
