Surf better
In addition to tests and travel reports, you surf magazine readers have another top topic on your wish list - the riding technique articles. They are extremely popular with you. And not without reason: windsurfing is one of the most fascinating sports in the world, but - and unfortunately we have to admit this - also a relatively difficult one, especially once you have left the beginner stage behind you.
The effortless water start, the step into the loops and trapeze surfing, the sleek glide, the energy-saving water start, the glided jibe, the first jumps - who doesn't remember the countless exits, the frustrated fist bumps into the water, the loud curses on the way to unachieved perfection? But that's what makes windsurfing so fascinating on the other hand. It's always a new challenge and there's always something to learn, no matter how good you are.
The surf reader survey showed us this once again. Whether it's freeride manoeuvres, waves or pure beginner and intermediate riding techniques, you want more of everything in the magazine. And a look at the surf Magazin YouTube channel also shows this: the top 10 most-watched videos are all riding technique tutorials. The water start is the undisputed number 1 with over 350,000 views.
In this issue, we are launching a new, three-part riding technique series aimed at an advanced target group, but not exclusively at experts. We want to show you the way to the front loop in three steps. There's no doubt that the forward somersault is one of the supreme manoeuvres and impressive to watch. But it is by no means as difficult as many surfers believe. If you can surf safely and relaxed in a good gliding wind and master a clean chop hop, you are absolutely ready for the front loop. In this series, World Cup pro Flo Jung and surfing technique expert Manuel Vogel accompany you on your way into the orbit. In the first part, they show you how to set up your equipment perfectly, which conditions are ideal for training and how to turn a simple jump into a radical front loop in no time at all.
And we can already promise you one thing - your wish is our command. That's why we're launching a major riding technique offensive in 2023 - from beginners to experts. So that we can all surf even better in the future!
