Naish ADX: The new performance wing on test
The Naish ADX turns out to be a fast and extremely direct wing with firm handles - but also places higher demands on the rider.

With the ADX model, Naish is launching its own wing with fixed handles for the first time. However, the grip system is just one of many changes that we have noticed compared to other Naish models.

On land:

The Naish ADX is designed as a high-performance wing and is available in sizes from 2.0 to 7.0 square metres. Compared to its sister model MK4 ( HERE there's a test) and the Matador LT ( Test ), the ADX has a significantly higher cloth tension and a flatter profile. In addition, the outline of the wing is visibly more elongated, and the higher aspect ratio should make the wing faster and drift neutrally on the wave.

The ADX has a comparatively flat profile

The position of the windows and the leash have also been revised - instead of a twisted coiled leash, there is now a smooth but still stretchy version. The most striking change is certainly the handle system. Instead of the handles previously fitted, the ADX is now equipped with fixed grips. These are stiff and very thin - even with small hands, the grip is particularly effortless. In addition, you always have the option of moving your hands sideways with millimetre precision to get a perfect grip at the pressure point.

In addition to the test, we also present the ADX model in a short clip. Click inside!

On the water:

The Naish ADX Wing feels agile and playful in the hand even before take-off. However, due to its flatter profile and the aforementioned agility, the Wing also needs to be guided and positioned with a little feeling. The passive glide performance is not at the absolute top level, but you can bring the Wing noticeably to life with an active riding style. As soon as you pump, the ADX suddenly develops the necessary power to take off early. In light winds, the inflation pressure can be orientated towards the lower end of the recommended range (7 psi), then the very tightly tuned wing can be pumped a little more efficiently.

In the air, the wing is extremely light in the hand. The grip on the thin handles is very comfortable and the wing converts gusts into top speed very well. However, the ADX needs to be actively guided at all times; the ADX is not a wing with maximum flight stability that cannot be rattled by anything. Control, on the other hand, is at the highest level; thanks to its high cloth tension and tight construction, nothing starts to flutter or warp even in strong gusts.

The ADX also impresses in manoeuvres across the board: it can be steered with pinpoint accuracy and the hard handles transmit steering impulses 1:1. With its slim wingtips, the wing rotates as if in fast motion - which is fun when playing with foils, but also for freestyle tricks and rotations. If you let the wing drift on the wave, it really shows its calm side and levelling out well.

Naish ADX - the conclusion:

The Naish ADX Wing primarily appeals to wingfoilers who have already outgrown the beginner stage and are looking for an agile, fast and handy wing for manoeuvres, freestyle and waves. The ADX is ideal for fast high-aspect foils. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a freeride wing that is as easy to fly as possible for cruising and with maximum light wind power, you should look towards the Naish MK4 or the Matador LT.
