Official races were held on five of the six competition days. A total of seven foiling eliminations and seven fin slalom eliminations were completed. In waveriding, two heats were missing at the end to achieve a valid result for the men. The women's contest was officially concluded. Nadja Jablonski won ahead of Emma Miron and Frida Miron.
Langer is GWA Foiling Champion 2024
Vincent Langer started the foiling discipline with an early start in the final of the first elimination, but dominated the field of participants in the discipline from then on. He won all races with one other exception, in which he came second. In the end, he won five of the seven eliminations and secured the title of GWA Foiling Champion 2024 with the ideal score of 0.0 thanks to the strike results. Jonne Heimann followed in second place in foiling. He was the driver who won the two races in place of the title winner Langer. He was particularly pleased with his triumph in the opening race, which was endowed with a total of 1,000 euros in prize money as the LVM Versicherung Grand Prix. With his two victories and a total of 6.0 points, he was runner-up in the championship. Dutchman Koen Hessels put in a strong performance on the North Sea off the Brandenburg beach and secured third place on the podium in the foiling discipline with 18.0 points. The battle for fourth place was extremely close. After seven races, Gunnar Asmussen from Flensburg and youngster Anton Richter from Kiel were neck and neck with 21.0 points. However, Asmussen prevailed in the tie-breaker and took fourth place in foiling ahead of Anton Richter.
Langer also unbeatable in the fin slalom
In the Fin Slalom discipline, the decision was only made on the final day. Four more complete eliminations took place over the course of Sunday. Langer also triumphed in the Fin Slalom, making him the GWA Fin Slalom Champion 2024. Despite Langer winning a total of four races, it remained exciting right to the end. Anton Richter still had the chance to snatch the title away from Langer until the last race. In the final exchange of blows, Anton Richter risked everything and perhaps a little too much. Because he had a catapult on the home straight, which dashed all of Richter's title hopes. Gunnar Asmussen from Flensburg seized the opportunity and secured victory in the final race. A second place in this elimination was enough for Langer to take the title in the Fin Slalom discipline as well. Due to his crash, Anton Richter slipped to eighth place in this race and thus to third place in the Fin Slalom discipline. Asmussen, on the other hand, managed to win the title of GWA Fin Slalom Vice Champion 2024 by winning the final race.
With his third place in the overall standings, Anton Richter is also the best Youth U19 ahead of Erik Wehkamp and Jesse Richter. Leo Richter, the older of the two Richter brothers, won the Youth U21 age group. Keno Recke followed in second place ahead of Felix Wehkamp. Jesper Mo Thomsen won the Junior U17 category ahead of Paul Regber and Felix Rhode.
The overall title also goes to Vincent Langer
In the overall ranking, the results of all disciplines are combined to determine the overall best windsurfer. As the waveriding discipline could not be completed, the overall result is made up of the two disciplines fin slalom and foiling. Langer, who had already won both individual disciplines, emerged as the winner of the overall classification. With two first places, he achieved the ideal score of 2.0 and is therefore the GWA Overall Champion 2024, while Gunnar Asmussen from Flensburg can celebrate the title of GWA Overall Vice Champion. Third place Overall was closely contested. Anton Richter and Jonne Heimann were neck and neck here with 8.0 points. Richter scored fifth place in foiling and third place on the fin. Heimann can count on second place in foiling and sixth place on the fin. In the tiebreaker, Heimann came out on top due to the better individual result. The crash on the home straight of the last Fin Slalom final not only cost Anton Richter the GWA Fin Slalom title, but also third place on the podium of the GWA Overall Championship. Leo Richter completes the top 5 overall in the GWA Championship standings.
Richter brothers dominate the youth classes
In the Youth U19 Overall classification, Anton Richter is in first place and well ahead of second and third-placed Erik Wehkamp and Jesse Richter. Leo Richter wins the Youth U21 Overall classification ahead of Keno Recke and Dutch rider Koen Hessels. Youngster Paul Regber won the Junior U17 Overall classification ahead of Jesper Mo Thomsen and Felix Rhode.
