When setting up, the Exceed feels like a good old friend: A lot of slack can be pulled in with normal trimming forces, the trim point in the sail provides the right tension. Similar to GA Sails, however, a deep profile remains in the area of the lower three battens. Even on the water, it shows that it has not aged, but has simply found its style and characteristics. It sets off as early as the Goya and flies through the wind with maximum stability. You can concentrate optimally on the board, because the sail is inherently stable and slightly damped with a good deck closure over the board and does not wobble around even in gusts. The board is held very steady, the fingers can hang on the boom in a fairly relaxed manner.
In strong winds, the characteristics remain the same - only with slightly more holding power: The sail covers a large wind range in one trim, which can be extended upwards with a little tension on the clew and less holding power. In the jibe, the Exceed impresses with consistently good handling, although the upper camber changes side noticeably, where the batten travel in the deep profile is longer than on some other sails. However, the rotation is pleasantly dampened and not blisteringly loud.
