Once you have experienced the solid trimming forces of the Point-7 AC-Z , you can look forward to a tightly tensioned, super stable sail. As with a racing sail, the profile runs away from the mast at a flat angle, the leech blows very freely with a lot of loose leech - almost up to the boom. Ideally, the clew of the sail is only loosely hooked in or minimally tensioned. The sail is not one of the strongest in light planing winds, but can utilise even low planing speeds well. The sail literally loads up and accelerates very well, allowing it to gain a few metres on more moderate models such as the Severne Turbo. If the planing wind remains light, it is not absolutely stable in the hand and offers less pull on the sail hand to elicit maximum glide in wind holes.
The lack of draft at the back turns out to be a super bonus when the wind picks up. It then remains very stable, can be laid curled on the deck, appears taut and seems almost unlimited in top speed. Switch on the GPS? Expressly desired! With a ride feeling like a real racing sail - but significantly (!) lighter - it is one of the most fun to heat up at full throttle. The camber rotates well around the mast in the jibe, but the sail is one of the more bulky sails in the group.
