Some models, such as the RRD Fire, have the direct and taut feel of fast racing sails. However, the weight when (water) starting and jibing is significantly lower.

The RRD Fire is pleasantly easy to trim. On the water you can feel a lot of potential, which you can utilise well on a freerace or race slalom board.

The Fire surprises with its sporty look and surprisingly low trim forces. Both cambers sit below the boom in a wide mast pocket, which quickly narrows above the boom, as with no-cam sails. The loose curve has the look of a racing sail. The sail is just as sporty and tight in the hand. It planes a little later than the Goya, is super stable in the hand, curled and flush with the foot on the deck. The very first trim with minimal tension on the clew was a good fit. Even without pulling on the boom, the pressure point remained very stable - compared to a Goya or especially a Severne, it is a few centimetres further back. This gives the board a lot of lift, which in turn translates very well into top speed even in the medium wind range.

On a fast freerace or even race slalom board with a high-quality fin, the RRD offers a lot of potential. Its strengths lie in top speed. In medium winds it is on a par with a Goya, at the planing limit it is a little less powerful. The sail can also be made fast in strong winds with little effort and without significant pressure point shifts. It shows no weaknesses in manoeuvres, it has an average weight and the camber changes sides perfectly.
