A long extension is necessary for the Curve 4.7, alternatively a 400 mast is also possible. The fork is long and the profile is stabilised by five battens. The Curve is already quite powerful when it is bobbing, sensitive surfers would say "massive". The good thing is that once planing, the Sailloft feels much lighter because it is extremely stable in the hands, makes corrections to the angle of attack largely superfluous and is very easy to ride. It is also pleasing that the Curve covers a wide wind range in medium trim and can also cope with strong gusts with virtually no pressure point changes.
Rotations are somewhat slower due to the longer boom and the higher weight, but the Curve still impresses with smooth batten rotation in jibes and other planing manoeuvres. On the wave, the Curve pulls powerfully into the turn, heavy chunks or less experienced surfers get an extra portion of power on the board, especially in conditions with little wind and wave thrust, making powerful cutbacks possible.
Surf summary of the Sailloft Hamburg Curve 4.7
If you're looking for a planing strong wind sail with easy handling and excellent control, you've come to the right place. However, the Curve is not really suitable as a playful sail for wave moves or freestyle.
