Surf recommendation: If you freestyle at a high level and don't want to do without that last bit of radicality and pop in power moves like Shaka, Burner or Kono, you should still go for the more compact Team Edition. Even in small onshore waves, the more torquey 99 is even more fun.

On land: The shapes of the two skates are completely different. The 100 - a new edition of the tried-and-tested 2011 model - is offered in a glass sandwich construction, is significantly longer than the 99 and is aimed at riders who, in addition to spock and flaka, also want to do a classic carving move on the water and who want to be able to do so.ür do without that last bit of radicality. Both boards are equipped with thick pads and very comfortable straps, the 99 sits as perfectly as a well-worn slipper thanks to the round (domed) deck contour. The 22 mm fin matches the characteristics of the 100 well, ambitious trick riders will probably use the Team Edition with a slightly shorter fin.

On the water: Compared to the 100, the 99 Team Edition seems smaller on the foot and needs a little more wind to get up to speed. When powered up, the Team Edition runs very controlled and, thanks to its perfect stance, with the greatest possible feel-good factor. While the Skate 100 is clearly ahead in jibes and carving manoeuvres, the 99 shows what it's made of on the first jump: Thanks to great pop, you get plenty of height for all the popular tricks and even jumped double moves are much easier with the compact board than with the "classic" skate. Even with slide rotations such as spock, flaka or switch manoeuvres, the Skate 99 leaves nothing to be desired and rotates quickly and radically, although it is also a little less forgiving of mistakes than an RRD or Tabou. If necessary, the board can even be used for a few tight backside cuts in small waves, a feature that rounds off the very positive overall impression.
