On land: At Fanatic, the small boards in the Skate range are longer than the larger sizes. The Skate 101 is very reminiscent of the 99 from 2013, but the tail area has been revised and now features a lightweight slot box. The smaller fin spacing now also seems perfect for most rider types and sails between 4.2 and 5.5.
On the water: The skate is not particularly extreme, but this is by no means a negative. Rather, it is precisely this balance that may not immediately burn the skate into your memory, but reduces the familiarisation time to 20 seconds. The board seems slightly larger in comparison to the group, glides well and immediately converts gusts into jumpable speed. When jumping off, you can reach Gollito-like heights thanks to the outstanding pop. The wide nose also provides a lot of safety when sliding backwards. In spocks and flakas, the skate doesn't rotate quite as supersonically as a Starboard, Wark or Tabou, and the wide fin also requires a little more pressure to slide through to double moves or carve upwind to shaka. On the other hand, the Skate delivers comparatively good grip and planing power in a straight line, even with larger sails.
