On land:The fact that Severne's boards are not manufactured by Cobra can be recognised by small details such as the self-venting ventilation screw. At just 6.18 kilos, our Psycho 92 (219 x 61 centimetres) turned out to be quite light. The rear strap is double-screwed to prevent twisting. All screws (straps and fin) can be easily tightened with an Allen key - wear and tear is unlikely.
On the water: With its flat deck, the Psycho is stable in the water and slides quickly. We found it extremely positive how well the board reacts to pumping - the acceleration is powerful and the Psycho immediately frees up enough to think about the first move. Thanks to the narrow tail, it is easy to carve into shakas, although the small 19 mm fin needs to be loaded sensitively. The pop is impressive, even if you surf slightly underpowered, because the volume has been concentrated where you need it: In the centre area. The bow, on the other hand, is noticeably thinned out, which is noticeable when turning. Thanks to slightly bevelled edges in the underwater hull ("bevels"), the board slides extremely forgivingly, even through choppy waves.
surf conclusion:
The Severne Psycho convinced us completely - it is easy to ride and, thanks to its high speed potential and controlled sliding, sets no limits for freestyle groms or cracks. The board fits perfectly up to a rider weight of 80 kilos, above that the tendency should be towards the 102.
