Almost typical for JP, the shape shows hardly any extravagant characteristics, which also explains the very balanced character on the water. On a consistently moderate V-shape with small concaves, the board does not glide spectacularly, but quickly - and transitions harmoniously into a sporty, direct, free planing position with little resistance.
The feet find a comfortable grip on the rounded deck - even with real pressure in the sail, the board doesn't fidget and keeps the nose down. With a good amount of foot pressure, you can also waggle on the straights, but the board really likes to go over the rail in wide and medium radius turns. You can throw yourself into the turn almost mindlessly - and the board stays on track, even if you accidentally vary the foot pressure or have to cross a choppy wave. This not only suits sporty surfers, but also those learning to jibe.
- Like all the more "radical" boards in this group, the JP also tends to tighten the radius a little more at the exit of the turn, but within a manageable range. With a little more pressure than with the Starboard, you can also surf the odd wave with a lot of glide and variable radii - or do tight 360s and duck jibes. A board for every situation: The JP accompanies intermediates safely through the jibes and convinces advanced riders with its turning ability in moderate surf waves.
