The Code * is shorter and thicker in the stance area, with almost no upturn in the deck towards the nose, rather rounded at the back and almost flat at the front - in short: a strikingly different shape. The fins are also anything but standard with a slim 22 mm sidefin in the centre - with a large and slight angle like a surfer.
The board won't win a podium place in speed, but it shines with its extremely good-natured, comfortable behaviour in choppy water and pleasant damping - and, unsurprisingly, with the liveliest turning characteristics. For heating, it can only be placed on the leeward edge with feeling, here a larger (single) fin would certainly change the characteristics. With feeling, it glides into the jibe with little pressure and tends to pull very tight at the exit of the turn with a constant edge load - perfect for 360s, but a little more demanding to glide through a normal jibe.
The short stub jumps best, encourages freestyle manoeuvres and is generally recommended to the more advanced surfer as a universal tool for flat water, jumped and sometimes slid manoeuvres and excursions into breaking waves. The board turns with little pressure in front of the wave, holds speed well and turns tightly at the lip of the wave. For easy climbers, the Kode is a comfortable platform that can be turned with little effort.
